The yarn sets the price. Yarn count runs backwards, so a low number like 10s means a heavy strand, which gives this towel real body for an entry-level product. Single-ply means one strand goes straight into the loom instead of two twisted together first, which skips a step that adds strength and cost.
Open-end spinning saves more. The cotton is spun in a high-speed rotor rather than on a ring frame, which is fast and inexpensive but makes a coarser, weaker yarn than ring-spun.
